Trash Collection & Recycling

COLLECTION DAY
Southwind trash collection days are Monday and Thursday and Southwind recycling collection day is Monday. Trash cans and recycling containers may be placed on the curb after 5:00 pm on the evening before collection day and should be removed from the curb by 10:00 pm on the day of collection.   Collection will begin at 7:00 a.m.   

·         Waste Connections will collect up to 10 overflow household trash in bags weighing less than 25  
     lbs. each.

·         Contractors should remove their own debris.

·         Call 398-5400 to arrange for removal of oversized waste.

UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS FOR COLLECTION:
No construction material, rocks, dirt or concrete will be collected.  Car batteries, large auto parts, motor oil, oil filters, tires, paint, solvents, drain cleaners, acids, lime, and dead animals are not acceptable.  TV’s, computers, printer4s, scanners, fluorescent lights, and other electrical appliances are not acceptable.  Any type of hazardous, liquid our medical waste (such as syringes and needles) is not acceptable.

STORAGE OF CONTAINERS
On non-collection days, containers should be stored in such a manner so as that they cannot be seen from adjacent and surrounding properties. Please keep containers out of sight on non-collection days.

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
There will be no pickup on the following holidays: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. If a scheduled pick-up day falls on or after one of these holidays, pickup will be delayed one day.                   

LIMB & BRANCH COLLECTION GUIDELINES:

·        No limbs longer that 4 feet or bags heavier than 25 lbs.

·        Nothing bigger around that 5 inches.

·        Bundled and stacked neatly by the curb with the cans so that it can be easily picked up and put   
   in the back of the truck.

·        Please do not place limbs and branches in the common areas.

·       Waste outside these limitations may have an additional charge for removal. 

RECYCLING GUIDELINES
The following items may be recycled:

·         Paper-Office paper, Magazines, Phone Books

·         Mixed Paper-Newspaper, Junk Mail, etc

·         Cardboard-Corrugated Cardboard & Boxboard (flattened)

·         Glass-All glass bottles and jars

·         Metal Cans-Aluminum & Steel

·         Plastics-Plastic Codes 1-7 (and plastic grocery bags)

Not Acceptable for Recycling: Styrofoam, electronics, ceramics or dishes, food waste, motor oil containers, light bulbs, mirrors.

Waste Connections is able to reward you for your recycling with our partner RecycleBank.   RecycleBank is a rewards program that motivates people to recycle.  With RecycleBank, you earn points for recycling.  Recycled weights will be converted to points.  Those points are deposited into your RecycleBank account and may be redeemed for rewards like groceries, merchandise, and discounts at national retailers and local businesses.  The more you recycle the more points you earn! 

 

What is the cost?
